ISD #314 Safety Update

February 28, 2018

At around 7:00 a.m. this morning district officials were made aware the Cambridge-Isanti School District had cancelled school for the day due to a rumored potential threat to THEIR district.  This resulted in an offer by the Braham Police Department and Isanti County Sheriff’s department to provide an increased presence in our district to alleviate potential concerns due to the proximity of the Braham and Cambridge communities.  While we are supportive of this gesture we were also concerned the mere presence of officers in the building might add stress and give the appearance something was happening in our own district - which is not, nor ever was - the case.

I apologize for any concern this has caused students, parents, and community members in our district.  I want you to know we take the safety of our students as an absolute top priority and work very hard to ensure we are doing as much as we can with the resources we have available.

Regarding social media postings:  typically the district will not respond to social media postings.  I strongly encourage you to contact me directly with questions or suggestions: Ken Gagner Braham Area Schools 531 Elmhurst Ave S Braham, MN 55006 (office) 320-396-5198 (cell) 320-288-6634 In the event the district actually conducts a safety procedure (not a drill), we will notify you through the School Messenger system (please make sure the district has your CORRECT information) and place information on the school website and Facebook page.

In closing, I want to say thanks to our partners in law enforcement and ensure you again we will continue to work hard each and every day to do our very best.
